The Claims Process
The day we receive your claim information in the mail it is posted on our computer systems. This is the Start Date of your claim. The claim process of examining and adjudicating, arbitrating and settling your claim with your moving company will take up to 30 business (and may extend to 90 business days based on extenuating circumstances). Please allow at least 30 business days before you contact us on the status of your claim.

Currently we are unable to process claims via email or fax. We do allow you to file your preliminary claim information ONLINE

In some cases we may ask for additional documentation via fax or email after we receive your original documentation. We are working on utilizing these electronic mediums in the future to streamline the claims process.

Once your claim is in process you may be called via telephone for additional clarification of specific items in your claim. Additionally, you will be contacted when a reimbursement has been determined. You will be mailed a Release and Settlement form. This must be signed and notarized and then returned to us.

Once your Release and Settlement form is received your moving company will issue a check to you.
"What is the status of my claim?"
"Can I send my claim via email or fax?"
"How will be contacted about my claim?"
"Where's my check?"
"Who is Global Claim Service?"
We are a third party administrative services company paid by your moving company to process their household goods claims. We have no affiliation or connection with your moving company. Global Claim Service provides claims processing, forms, customer service and other business services to the household goods carriers industry.
"My goods arrived late. Can I file a claim for that?"
Yes, but as part of the contract (Bill of Lading) the customer provides the mover with the “earliest delivery date”. This is the first date a customer can accept delivery of their goods. The mover then has 21 business days from this date to make delivery.
"I packed my own boxes. Is the moving company responsible for damage to the contents?"
The moving company is generally NOT liable for damage to goods that are packed by the owner (PBO). Since the moving company did not pack the articles they cannot be sure they were packed securely.
"How long do I have to file a claim?"
Federal regulations give you 9 months from the date of delivery to file a claim for an interstate move. Limits for intrastate (local) moves vary from state to state. Please check with your state transportation agency.
